Thieves Bypassing Camera and Alarm Systems with Wi-Fi Jammers

Masked man using a Wi-Fi jammer in a residential backyard.

There has been a huge spike in sophisticated break-ins where thieves are disabling wireless cameras with Wi-Fi jammers. In fact, Wi-Fi jammers typically emit signals so strong and noisy that even your alarm system which uses a different wireless communication protocol does not work. Alarm systems typically do not have wired sensors, so thieves can easily bypass your indoor motion and door/window-contact sensors with jamming devices that are available online (despite being extremely illegal).
